EL ANTEPENÚLTIMO MOHICANO

A primera hora de la mañana se han anunciado las nominaciones de la academia de cine británico (BAFTA), los premios más importantes de Reino Unido y los más relevantes en la campaña celebrados en el viejo continente. Muchos de los votantes de esta organización pertenecen a la facción británica de la academia americana que elige el destino de las estatuillas doradas. Por tanto, los BAFTA se presentaban como el último bastión de referencia previo a las nominaciones al Óscar de la próxima semana.

¿El resultado? El esperado, con The Artist acumulando el mayor número de candidaturas (12). Apoyo incondicional a la cinta inglesa del año: El topo (11). Drive candidata a mejor película y director. Pese a su presencia en estos premios parece poco probable que el largometraje de Nicolas Winding Refn se cuele en los Óscar, desafortunadamente. Su caso es idéntico al de El árbol de la vida, con la salvedad que ésta tampoco ha sido valorada por la industria de las islas.

España está representada, de nuevo, por La Piel que Habito en mejor película foránea. Le acompaña la música de Alberto Iglesias creada para El topo. El 12 de Febrero los ganadores en una gala celebrada en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres.
